5 Signs of an Unhealthy Relationship
Disclaimer: I am by no means a psychologist or qualified advisor. However, I think I have acquired enough experience from my past relationships, some good...some not so good. Most of the time, it is like we are so blinded by love or by the thought of being in love, that we cannot readily identify the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship. I want to share with you 5 signs of a bad/unhealthy relationship, however, warning signs of a bad relationship is not limited to these.
1. No Respect: Respect is a fundamental aspect of a relationship. Respect goes both ways therefore, you have to give respect to get it. So if you feel like your partner does not respect you, then chances are he actually have no respect for you at all. Remember mutual respect is essential in maintaining a good relationship so you should also show respect to your other half. That way, it would be easier to recognize who is the problematic one and work towards changing that attitude for the better.
2. You don’t feel Valued: Valuing someone is when you consider that person to be important. If you feel like you are not be treated how you should be treated chances are that your partner does not value you or even the relationship. Many females like myself loves attention and if your partner turns away from you or doesn’t notice you in days then he/she is definitely losing it.
3. Your partner does not trust you: If you are being constantly accused of doing something that you are not doing., then you partner does not trust you enough. Being accused of cheating is most of the times so unbearable to someone who is not involved in the act. Your partner is jealous and possessive and looking to control you and this might lead to violence. If your partner harms you or tries to harm you then you are definitely in an unhealthy relationship.
4. Not Supportive: Your partner should be able to support you and not dismiss any interest in things you like to do. You should feel comfortable in sharing experiences, your needs and ideas with your partner without receiving a harsh response. You should both be able to depend on each other and not feel like a burden to each other.
5. Loneliness: Loneliness is the feeling of being alone or the feeling we get when we want to connect with someone who is not available to connect with. If you feel that your partner is isolating themselves from you then you definitely have a reason to feel guilty when you are lonely. Feeling disconnected, upset and unwanted can be emotionally unbearable. I must say that we cannot expect a relationship to be just as it was in the beginning but it should not feel like it is deteriorating because of time or distance. It should not be a out of sight, out of mind type of relationship as even if miles apart communicating should be crucial.
